Meditation is an exercise in awareness that helps to recondition our unconscious habits and tendencies that tend to lead us to a state of discontent, stress, and struggle. If you have ever found yourself repeatedly mired in emotion or ruminating thoughts, then this is for you.
The short answer is: anytime you find yourself in a state of stress or struggle. The longer answer is that cultivating a daily meditation practice alleviates this repetitive suffering long-term.
Anywhere! You don't even need to close your eyes. Meditating in nature, watching birds, trees, or clouds. Meditation is the practice of conscious awareness so you can do it wherever you are.
Because you are human! All humans struggle with stress, invasive thoughts, and emotions. Meditation doesn't erase those conditions, it teaches us to respond differently.
Meditation is simple. We can begin with first, identifying our conscious awareness. Try focusing on your breathing for a few moments. As you breathe in, consciously aware that you are breathing in. As you breathe out, conscious that you are breathing out.
We recommend cultivating a daily(ish) formal sitting practice in a quite place where you can minimize distractions. Start with five or ten minutes at first and increase when you feel comfortable. The practical aspect of this daily practice is accessing this skill each time you feel stress. Grounding yourself in conscious awareness.
